Jrue Holiday News

Jrue Holiday and Julius Randle combined for 65 points to lead host New Orleans to a 131-122 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday, but the Pelicans lost All-Star forward Anthony Davis to a shoulder injury. Davis missed the second half, finishing with 14 points and four rebounds in 15 minutes. It wasn't immediately known whether the injury would keep Davis out of the All-Star Game on Sunday in Charlotte, N.C. Randle had 33 points and 11 rebounds, and Holiday added 32 points.

Anthony Davis returned from a three-week absence to score 32 points before his New Orleans Pelicans teammates took over in the fourth quarter of a 122-117 victory over the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night. Davis, who was booed during his pregame introduction and whenever he touched the ball during his first appearance since asking for a trade and recovering from a finger injury, made 11 of 15 field-goal attempts and 10 of 11 free-throw attempts. Jrue Holiday had 27 points, rookie Kenrich Williams added 19 and Tim Frazier and Julius Randle had 12 each for New Orleans.

The odds are beyond stacked against New Orleans making a push back into legitimate Western Conference playoff contention, with the 24-31 Pelicans sitting 5.5 games out of the eighth spot. However, based on guard Jrue Holiday's comments after Friday's shootaround, the squad remains focused on

His market rank based on start percentage among forwards for the rest of week 17 is #2, which is better than his market rank of #6. When compared to other forwards in week 18, Trevor Ariza (48.6 FP), LaMarcus Aldridge (33.6 FP), Rudy Gay (24.4 FP), Kevin Durant (78.4 FP), and Thaddeus Young (51.9 FP)

Domantas Sabonis had 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Myles Turner added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Pacers, who won their second straight. The Pelicans had the ball, down 109-106, in the final seconds after Indiana guard Aaron Holiday was called for an offensive foul. But just before Jrue Holiday started to pull up for a 3-pointer, Pacers guard Corey Joseph astutely committed a reach-in foul, putting the Pelicans' guard on the foul line for just two free throws with two seconds left.
